How To Install Berserker Mod Quake 2

Play Quake II with Berserker@Quake2

Quake 2 was created for Windows 95/98 systems. Installation onto a 64 bits version of Windows 10, 8 and Windows 7 seems to be possible and the game also starts properly. However, getting the game going in full screen is a challenge. Resolutions higher than 1600x1200 are not available. And you can only look around with your mouse by pressing a key. All in all pretty 90s!

So you can head over to GOG.com and download the complete Quake II: Quad Damage game. It includes Quake II, The Reckoning and Ground Zero mission packs, AND the Extremities Netpack. Awesome.

But, as with almost all games on this website, there's also a source port available for Quake 2. And it's a good one. Only downside is that it's hosted on a Russian website. So you have to look carefully between all the Russian characters. Visit the project website at http://berserker.quakegate.ru if you like. Thankfully, you can also download full packages from moddb.com.

  1. —Quake 2 Manual The Berserker is a fast humanoid Strogg that only uses melee attacks. It appears to have been created from captured humans, which is both visually apparent from the human torso and head with drastic cybernetic augmentations, and also based on the fact that a Berserker will utter the English word 'Trespasser' on visual contact.
  2. Download quake2xp for free. QuakeIIxp is a multi-platform (windows, linux and freeBSD (experemental)) graphics port of the game Quake II developed by Id Software. Completely updated rendering takes full advantage of the latest graphics cards to get the perfect picture, preserving the original style of the game.

So, what do you need to get this thing going?

Stuff you need

  • A decent graphics card
  • The original Quake 2 game
  • The Berserker@Quake2 program files (see below)

Screen brightness

Mod

The Berserker@Quake2 application tends to increase the brightness of the screen. When the application is closed, these settings stay enabled. After a system restart with Windows 7, default brightness will be restored. In Windows 8, the brightness remains increased even after a restart until you set them to default with your video driver software. In Windows 10, brightness goes back to normal after the application closes.

Contribution and Bugreports

The development of Yamagi Quake II is hosted on Github. If you want toreport a bug or send some nice patches please open an issue or a pullrequest in the appropriate subproject. You can find our organizationat: github.com/yquake2

If you’re planing to work on a bigger feature, please do yourself afavor and ask if we’re interested before spending time onto it. Wedon’t merge every feature that’s submitted to us just because the codeis already there. Maintainability, integration with the existing codeand our general focus are of great concern, too.
