Heads up Mac users, it looks like Skype for OS X has been updated to version 5.8 and will be bringing about several features that used to be exclusive to the Windows version. For starters Skype for Mac will be bringing back the slim and floating contact list that was apparently a much requested feature that was originally in Skype 2.8. For those wondering what it’s about, the new Contacts Monitor will provide a floating window in which your Skype contacts will be displayed in a simplified list that can be resized and moved around. It even comes with filters for friends, family, Skype, Facebook, etc.
Skype has also brought about Group Screen Sharing which used to be a Windows exclusive in the past. If you are a premium Skype subscriber then this will probably be of use to you, and basically what it does is that it will allow Skype users to share their screen with groups of 10 while video calling, although only one member within that group needs to be a premium subscriber. Other features includes the ability for Skype to reorientate the video call when Skyping with a mobile user when he/she rotates their phone. Last but not least, Skype has also announced that its latest version of Skype is OS X Mountain Lion ready, which we guess is just in time given that the platform is expected to launch in July. Re: Skype for Mac OS X lion The Skype application was owned by the Microsoft in the year 2011. The other advantages of the Skype application are if one user is using the Skype application and the another user is also having the Skype application in his Operating System than they can make the calls with free of charge.
